Rebecca Taylor's work is frequently described by collectors as serene, contemplative, peaceful and healing. Inspired by ancient and contemporary Zen artists, visually some works are dramatic and powerful. Some are playful and humorous, others heartbreakingly delicate and lovely. Frequently incorporating calligraphy into her paintings, the art engages the mind as well as the eye through poems and symbols, further illustrating subtle meanings and nuances.

It is understood that when the Zen master brushes a painting, his very life force and enlightenment are imparted to the ink by his intense concentration. For Zen masters, the act of painting is a moving meditation. This is apparent in Taylor's work. It has a dynamic energy, which combined with her simple, elegant compositions, conveys a spirituality that emerges from within. With the briefest of brush strokes she is able to depict life and movement in her subjects. The movement of colorful koi through a mountain stream is depicted with only the merest hints of water. One can hear the wind rushing through the bamboo, feel the leaves fluttering on their branches, and sense the warmth of the sun on the stalks.

Taylor's profound interest and extensive background in health and healing is expressed in her art, which so elegantly expresses her own quest for deep inner serenity and enlightenment. Each painting is a personal meditation, conveying her joy in attempting to live each moment to its' fullest potential, and finding meaning in the simplest of things. Her art is truly the Art of Serenity.
